The African Climate Foundation in partnership with FONSIS within the framework of the REEF Fund
On Tuesday December 5, 2023, FONSIS (Sovereign Strategic Investment Fund) and ACF (African Climate Foundation) signed an agreement as part of FONSIS's Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund (REEF). The signing of the agreement was facilitated by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), FONSIS' partner in structuring the REEF.
Cโest dans le cadre de ce processus que LโAfrican Climate Foundation accompagne, en effet, le Fonds souverain par une subvention d’un montant de 100.000 USD pour couvrir les รฉtudes pour la mise en ลuvre du Fonds REEF.
FONSIS, aware that Africa needs to focus more on renewable energies for inclusive and sustainable growth, has set up the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund (REEF). REEF aims to accelerate the development of renewable energy projects and energy efficiency in Senegal, and intends to mobilize a total of 370 billion FCFA. The aim of the fund is to contribute to the achievement of national targets for reducing CO2 emissions.
To achieve this, FONSIS and GGGI are focusing on supporting the emergence and strengthening of local institutions, as well as the involvement of the private sector, in order to remove constraints on access to financing.
This signing ceremony is a key step in the process of mobilizing resources for the structuring and replenishment of the REEF. Further consultations will be held to engage investors in the resource mobilization process.
