Created in 2012, the main mission of the Strategic Investment Fund of Senegal (FONSIS) is to catalyse the transformation of the economy by investing in transformational projects with high potential economic impact.

Each of our investments is made in partnership with the national or international private sector, in order to attract and channel private capital into strategic sectors.

We are firmly convinced that the transformation of the economy must be accompanied by the emergence of a fabric of dynamic, innovative and job-creating local businesses. This is why FONSIS invests in promising companies, through equity investments made by sector-specific or thematic private equity funds.

The inevitable march towards progress is just as exciting, with the prospects of exploiting the natural resources in which our country abounds. So, in a spirit of intergenerational equity, the Sovereign Wealth Fund's remit includes the management of the Intergenerational Fund (FIG), to which part of the proceeds from the exploitation of hydrocarbons is added. Our aim is to ensure that this fund grows over the long term, for the benefit of future generations.

Identifying innovations to amplify the catalytic effect of FONSIS in its various modes of intervention remains a strong credo in our investment thesis.

Today, FONSIS has established itself as a leading partner in the implementation of structuring or transformational projects, thanks to the commitment of its human capital and the quality of its governance framework. In this regard, it should be emphasised that FONSIS subscribes to the Santiago Principles promoted by the International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds (IFSWF), of which it has been a member since March 2019.
