Dakar, October 16, 2025<\/strong> - The ongoing reconstruction of H\u00f4pital Le Dantec will position Senegal as a benchmark player in healthcare infrastructure in the sub-region. The new facility will have a capacity of 660 beds and state-of-the-art technical facilities. This will include 15 operating theatres, high-precision imaging and radiotherapy equipment (scanner, MRI, angiography, radiotherapy), as well as specialized units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Aligned with the best international standards in terms of medical infrastructure, the new facility will occupy three hectares of the six hectares of the former Le Dantec Hospital, enabling optimum use to be made of the remaining land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n With a view to turning H\u00f4pital Le Dantec into a genuine medical and paramedical hub, FONSIS has been entrusted with the task of developing the residual land on the historic site into specialized medical and paramedical services, as well as modern facilities for carers, to complement the care offered by the capital's hospitals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The investments required to achieve this ambition will be financed without recourse to government debt. It should be pointed out that there are several successful examples worldwide of schemes to use public assets to stimulate private investment in the healthcare sector. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The co-investment mechanisms envisaged with the private sector do not involve the sale of land. Dans l\u2019optique de faire de l\u2019H\u00f4pital Le Dantec un v\u00e9ritable hub m\u00e9dical et param\u00e9dical, le FONSIS s\u2019est vu confier la mission de valoriser le foncier r\u00e9siduel du site historique afin d\u2019y d\u00e9velopper des services m\u00e9dicaux et param\u00e9dicaux sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9s, ainsi que des infrastructures d\u2019accueil modernes pour les accompagnants, en compl\u00e9ment de l\u2019offre de soins propos\u00e9s par les h\u00f4pitaux de la capitale. Pour la r\u00e9alisation des investissements n\u00e9cessaires \u00e0 cette ambition, le financement du projet se fera sans recours \u00e0 l\u2019endettement de l\u2019\u00c9tat. Il faut souligner qu\u2019il existe plusieurs exemples r\u00e9ussis dans le monde de sch\u00e9mas de valorisation d\u2019actifs publics pour stimuler l\u2019investissement priv\u00e9 dans le secteur de la sant\u00e9. Les m\u00e9canismes de co-investissement envisag\u00e9s avec le secteur priv\u00e9 ne pr\u00e9voient aucune vente du foncier. Ils reposent notamment sur des sch\u00e9mas de mise \u00e0 disposition du terrain \u00e0 long terme, ou d\u2019apport en nature assortis de clauses de non-ali\u00e9nation du foncier, garantissant la stabilit\u00e9 n\u00e9cessaire pour la r\u00e9alisation des investissements priv\u00e9s.
