FONSIS has joined the One Planet Sovereign Wealth Funds (OPSWF) initiative, reinforcing its commitment to climate change

Set up in 2017, the One Planet Sovereign Wealth Funds initiative aims to accelerate the green transition towards cleaner energy as well as projects that can fight global warming much more effectively. OPSWF gathers sovereign wealth funds committed to integrating climate change issues into their investment processes and contributing to a smooth energy transition, which will result gradually in a more sustainable and low-carbon economy.

Le PRES, Programme de Résilience Economique et Sociale, a pour objectif de renforcer le système de santé sénégalais et de soutenir les ménages, la diaspora, les entreprises et leurs salariés dans le contexte du COVID-19. C’est en ce sens que la sauvegarde de la stabilité macroéconomique et financière y est un élément central visant à soutenir le secteur privé et maintenir les emplois à travers un programme d’injection de liquidités assorti de mesures fiscales et douanières.

WE! Fund fait la sélection de ses projets selon le WEE index, un outil développé par UNCDF, le PNUD et ONU Femmes qui est un ensemble de critères et d'indicateurs permettant d'identifier les entreprises du secteur privé, les projets d'infrastructure et les investissements publics qui sont considérés comme sensibles au genre. Il s'agit de la première norme des Nations unies pour l'évaluation d'un pipeline de projets à travers une optique de genre, qui peut éventuellement servir aux partenaires et aux parties prenantes concernées.

Responding to COVID 19, FONSIS speeds up the construction of Touba Hospital

As the world responds to the outbreak of COVID 19, FONSIS as an investor is supporting efforts to combat the virus through the fast-tracking of several projects. Thus, working with ministry in charge of health and in line with the national response plans around the virus, FONSIS is speeding up the construction of the new building made up of 5 floors inside Matlaboul Fawzaini Hospital.

Launched on August 2nd 2019, DB Foods is a 35% FONSIS’ subsidiary, established in the north of Senegal and produces a rice known as “Thiep bi”. It was marketed several weeks ago, with the aim to integrate quickly into the Senegalese eating habits. The sellers’ confidence in the product quality results in its distribution through supermarkets and other shops, and even very soon by one of the biggest national retailers.

An agreement was signed between, FONSIS, the Health Minister and the Minister in charge of economy and cooperation on July, 15th 2019.

The Memorandum of Understanding sets out the collaboration framework to raise the quality of Senegal's medical facilities and to achieve digitalization of the healthcare system as well.
