Construction of a new hospital in Touba: FONSIS’ Board of directors visit the site to see progress of the work 

On December 22nd 2019, the Board of FONSIS visited TOUBA, a city which is located 194 km from Dakar. The chairperson, Nafisatou Diop CISSE and the other board members visited the building site of Matlaboul Fawazaini Hospital of Touba. Upon their arrival, they were welcomed by the director of the hospital Dr Makhtar Lô, alongside the FONSIS’ CEO, Papa Demba Demba DIALLO as well as representatives of the main stakeholders.
The construction which began in January 2019 is driven by POLIMED, a FONSIS’ subsidiary specialized in health facilities and is rigorously managed through daily reports and weekly supervision meetings. This results in a satisfying steady pace of work, appreciated by the board.

Matlaboul Fawzaini is a state-of-the-arts hospital, with the aim to improve the well-being of the patients and of the staff as well.

High level medical acts will be delivered including: general surgery, traumatological orthopedics, urology, ORL, ophthalmology, intensive care and sterilization.

Rest areas for patients’ families will be provided to make the hospital more accommodating.

Shared facilities will also be set up including sewerage and wastewater treatment plants, telecom facilities and Information system. 
Delivery of the building is scheduled for 2020.

About the new hospital

In line with its commitment to improve healthcare system, the Senegalese Ministry of health signed with FONSIS, an agreement aiming to build and equip a new hospital. Through its subsidiary POLIMED, FONSIS manages the construction of this 5 storey building with a 132-bed capacity.
